The approach of fall means you need to start planting autumn goodies. A hollowed out pumpkin can become a festive container for kale and lettuce. Cut an opening in the top of your pumpkin, scoop out the inside, and spray the entire thing with Wilt-Proof. This will prevent rotting. You can now use it to plant in, as you would a pot.

Gardening is a great activity to share with your children or other family members. It’s great fun for kids to help choose what to plant. They love that they are allowed to get dirty and really enjoy getting dirty with their parents.

Develop your garden plants around the colors that can appear in fall. A variety of deciduous plants, vines and trees are most colorful in the fall. Spray this solution on plants once weekly until the mildew is gone. Your plants will not be harmed by the baking soda, but the mildew will definitely not like it!

Vegetable plants should be planted where they can benefit from a minimum of six hours of sunlight every day. Many types of veggies require this amount in order to thrive and produce the food source that you are hoping for. This is true for flowers as well.

Bees are obviously very beneficial to your gardening, such as bumble bees that help with pollination. There are certain bees, like carpenter bees, that can be harmful because they eat wood and create their nests inside them. For the most part, bees are important to your garden, in which case it is best to leave them alone to do their work.

To remove any salt deposits from a clay pot, use some rubbing alcohol and vinegar. When you have a plant in a clay pot, unsightly salt deposits can build up on the outside over time. Mix up equal amounts of rubbing alcohol, water and white vinegar, then spray onto the pot. Use a plastic brush to scrub the salt away easily. Thoroughly rinse the pot, and allow it to dry prior to planting another item in it.
